From St. Stephen's Episcopal School

St. Stephen's is the launching point to a million possibilities. Students who are looking for more out of life excel here. Every day we work hard to provide a challenging and stimulating college preparatory academic experience. But while the academics are stringent, the atmosphere is casual, friendly, accepting. Our students are known for mutual respect and acceptance of classmates no matter what they believe, where they come from or what they aspire to in the future. From one another we learn, and see life and the world through each other's eyes.

The best school in Austin. One of the best in the state. Fantastic teachers, small classes, collaborative environment. The school offers all kinds of extras: trips to West Texas for archeological digs, aid trips to Haiti, language immersion trips, independent study, and many others. The teachers take a deep level of interest in the students and the English and language programs are outstanding. Diversity in all areas is supported - it’s not just lip service! My daughter had an incredible experience at St. Stephen’s.

I am a recent alum of St. Stephen's Episcopal School, and this school has granted me a plethora of learning experiences. I have not only learned about myself, but how to communicate with people who come from completely different environments from me. Being that this school is located in a predominantly white and wealthy area, St. Stephen's is filled with students who have not interacted with others that come from a culture that is not in any way, shape, or form similar to theirs. Most were close-minded and refused to branch out of their bubble, while some were grateful for the opportunity to attend a boarding school that is home to many students from all over the world. As a minority, my experience is one that not many can relate to. I am grateful for the wonderful souls I have encountered that have positively impacted my experience and helped me grow. After much reflecting, this experience has taught and prepared me for the real world.
I loved my time at St. Stephen's. The teachers are exceptional and the lack of AP classes means that they don't just teach to the exams but what is most interesting to them -- which usually translates into much more interesting class time! I felt like I was more prepared than most of my college peers (at an elite school nonetheless!) -- my writing was better, I was better at time-management. The only thing I would change is that at the time the student body was not especially active in clubs/non-sport activities, however I think this is slowly changing.
