Lower school is wonderful. The middle school curriculum is lacking. They need more advanced classes, as math is the only subject that offers differentiation, and that doesn’t start until 7th grade. The highest math available in grade 8 is Advanced Algebra. A school of this caliber should be teaching Geometry in 8th grade to qualified students like most other schools in this area (even the public schools.) They should consider advanced History and English as well.
The student body (and apparently many parents) are more interested in sports (lacrosse) than academic excellence. It seems many kids barely even try in school. Group projects are a painful ordeal for smart and engaged kids who want to do well. I believe offering some more advanced classes would group students of similar ablility and engagement, which would make for a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
Bottom line, if you have a very bright child, I would look for a more challenging environment for middle school.

I had a wonderful experience at SSSAS. I started attending the school in 2007 and graduated in 2016 and loved every moment of it. It is easy to get involved in club, sports, the arts, and more. Students are able to build great relationships not only with each other, but also with the faculty and staff. The challenging academics well prepared me for the college life and I could never be more grateful. Go Saints!
The main thing I like about this school is the faculty. The teachers are so passionate about what they do and will meet with you whenever you are available. Also, the class sizes are small so you get a lot of individual attention and help. However, I do not give it five stars because of the social scene. If you can't find your group or click, then you will feel like an outsider. While there are some people that are super nice to everyone, it's pretty much like if you drink you are with the popular, lacrosse people and if you don't drink you are an outsider. But, like I said, if you find your group of friends then you will be fine. There are a lot more liberal people than you think for a private, Christian school. There are theater kids and nerdy, engineering kids and social justice and sportsy kids. It's all about finding where you fit in.
