As I reflect back on my experience at SPA, as a student who attended K-12, I feel so grateful. SPA saved my life - literally.
I wasn’t a strong student, and struggled with a lot of personal and family issues. Paired with the teenage years, I was really sinking. SPA noticed this, and quickly offered me psychological help. Not only did they offer this help to me, they introduced me to mental health help for the first time. This was huge in “turning myself around”. The guidance counselor who helped me was 10/10.
Aside from this, SPA prepares each student for success. As a student at an Ivy, I feel capable and confident in my ability to thrive. The closeness of the school, passionate teachers, and thorough education proves to be worth the price tag. Thanks SPA!

The academics are terrific. The teachers are passionate about their subjects. In the last 10 years, they built a beautiful new performing arts center as well as a new math, science and technology center. They have lost good teachers quickly because of poor pay. The administration is not great about listening to kids' and teacher input. My son got a good education there and the curriculum is focused on critical thinking and discussion rather than rote memorization. They don't have AP curriculum in the high school because they want more freedom in crafting curriculum. However, many kids take AP exams and do well and the kids get into great colleges, and do very well in various state and national academic competitions.
This is a great school for our daughter. The community is very welcoming and the teachers really allow the students to be themselves. They've provided a great atmosphere for learning and have my child excited about learning. After reviewing private schools in other states, I do see that some other elite private schools do better in communicating to the parents about their children and also help the parents better understand their Childs learning style. So, I do believe that this is an area that SPA can improve on and I'm sure that they will. SPA is nimble, adjustable, and they understand that continuous improvement never ends.
