Great school, many opportunities. Very liberal, though sometimes to the point of close-mindedness. The teachers are great, they take the time to get to know you! I was very ready for college, academically speaking. There are a number of children who are very obviously the product of helicopter parents, and also of money. This can put a strain on the social aspect. It is small, which is nice, but sometimes it can feel claustrophobic. Overall, SPA is a great school, and somewhere you will not regret attending.

When I came to Saint Paul Academy (SPA) as a new student in 9th grade, I immediately noticed the value of a small, close-knit community of supportive and motivated people. Such a small student to teacher ratio (with most classes at around 15 students) allows for a deeper connection with faculty and increased student engagement in classes. Teachers are available every day for personalized help, whether it be walking you through a calculus concept you don't understand or giving you feedback on an English essay. Regular participation in every class is expected by every student, which is especially encouraged by the discussion-based format of humanities courses.

Students at SPA are very driven and competitive, which can at first overwhelming but very rewarding because of its contagious nature. They are also very involved in the school community: one student might be a member of two clubs, the robotics team, the and jazz band while also pursuing athletics and succeeding academically.
I came to St. Paul Academy & Summit School in elementary school and I will forever be grateful for the opportunities it has provided me. The academics are definitely strenuous and college preparatory, but with such a wide variety of classes, there is surely something that will interest everyone. Also, the small class sizes have lead me to develop amazing relationships with all of my teachers and they are always available to answer any questions or help me when I am stuck on a homework problem. I cannot stress it enough that I genuinely feel like I am friends with all of my teachers. SPA has also undoubtedly helped me grow and prosper as a student through their collaborative learning initiative. Coming into SPA I was definitely on the shy side, but because all classes take place around a Harkness table (a large oval configuration) to inspire discussion, I have become much more empowered and feel increasingly more confident expressing my opinions in a public setting.
