St. Monica School Reviews
Rating 3 out of 5 2 reviews
I believe that the teachers at Saint Monica do honestly care about their students and try with their classes, just some are not the most successful. Most teachers followed the common method of reading out of the book, lectures, and notes. Once and awhile we did projects, but it was not a common event. The teachers that taught the class they were supposed to, seemed to have a significant amount of knowledge on their topic, but there were some teachers suck teaching a class they did not know much about. Many of the teachers taught two subjects, there were not many of them, and so our teacher that was supposed to teach math also taught a class of social studies. Communication overall was fairly organized and grading was mostly consistent.
I say three stars because I would not honestly recommend this school to someone, but I went there for nine years, so it was kind of like my second home. Everyone knew everything about everybody, and sometimes that got to be a lot to take. Most of me and my classmates grew up together, and to someone possible joining in a later year, it is hard to fit in. Even though, everyone was kind of friends with the rest of the grade, Saint Monica was pretty cliquey. Everyone had their group that they belonged to. It was normal, though to mingle, you just had to know where you belonged. I could still, right now lay out the whole social pyramid for my grade, and it most likely match anyone else that you asked. Besides that and most kids being rich and spoiled, Saint Monica did give me my background and my character, and I am thankful. There was a lot of fun traditions, especially for the 8th , and school activities to keep you occupied. One such tradition is the Variety Show that the 8th graders put on every year at Dominican High School, our next door neighbor. At the show every class preforms a dance that they have been practicing for months in advance and the 8th graders preform skits in between and keep a theme running throughout. It then ends with the final farewell to the 8th graders. All in all, it is a pretty good school.
