St. Monica Academy is an excellent Catholic grade school, middle school, and high school. I should know, I spent all 12 years there. It was founded by Catholic families who wanted a truly Catholic education for their children, and let me tell you, their standards hold up. Not only does the standard of Faith hold up at this school, the academic standard is quite top notch as well. You WILL come out of this school as an excellent writer, transitioning into the university setting with ease. You will also have a great understanding of the Latin language, which surprisingly, comes in handy especially if you are in the medical field deciphering difficult words which most often stem from Latin! There is so much goodness in this school and I am blessed to call myself an alumnus.

I have attended St. Monica's Academy from 1st-11th grade. Now I am entering senior year. SMA provides an amazing education, a tight-knit community, and a real understanding of the Catholic faith. The kids I've grown up with at St. Monica Academy are all amazing people, and SMA has helped form us into those amazing people. The education is outstanding. I love that we study works that have bested the challenge of time, not just new pieces which pass into obscurity. Class is usually enjoyable, and conversations are always thought-provoking. Furthermore, because the school is small, you have a relationship with your teachers, all of whom are good, intelligent people who try to help you be your best self always. The only draw-back of a small school is that extracurricular activities are few and limited, and there is only one language option. But the benefits of SMA easily outweigh its cons.
I am a current junior at St. Monica Academy, and I will be graduating in 2019. Though SMA isn't perfect, there isn't a better Catholic high school to be found in southern California.

SMA was recently named the thirty-fourth best Catholic high school in the nation, and I believe that this ranking reflects SMA's curriculum - challenging, but not unattainable.

The curriculum at SMA is one of a kind, in that it includes both a beautiful classical education and a rigorous scientific foundation. All students study great thinkers such as Euclid, Homer, Plato, Thomas Aquinas, Caesar, and Dante. Some classes even cover, or are taught in, the language of the man himself.

The teachers aren't all perfect, but they are definitely worth knowing. I guess that sums up most of SMA - not perfect, but worthwhile. If you want a high school that will strengthen your faith and stretch your mind, just come on over.
