I love this school! All my teachers have been great, everyone is really nice for the most part and I really enjoy the all-girls environment. I feel like I am challenged but the classes aren’t super hard and all my classmates care about school and engage in class. I can definitely see how it is not for some people but the atmosphere works perfectly for me. I am non-religious and though it is a catholic school, I’ve never felt like they were pushing it on me. Our theology classes cover a lot of topics besides Jesus and Christianity and the teachers are more focused on your interpretation instead of the religion itself. The only thing I would have to complain about is the dress code and the competitiveness. Though the teachers and staff try to not put an emphasis on grades/college, the average St Mary’s student will most likely be putting a lot of pressure on themselves and overloading with classes and extra curriculurs.
Hi! My name is Ella, and I'm a Sophomore at St. Mary's Academy. From the moment I walked into SMA for my first shadow visit when I was in 8th Grade, I knew that St. Mary's had something that other schools did not. At first I couldn't place it. It wasn't just the friendly calm of the building and the focused chatter of the students during passing periods and in classes, or the small classes that felt so natural and comfortable that I was not just willing but excited to raise my hand with the right answer. But through the almost two years now that I've been at SMA, I've slowly been able to piece together what exactly makes St. Mary's so special: It's the fact that every student wants to be there. Every student is excited to learn, to work hard, and to interact with teachers and friends. SMA is an amazing school with incredible classes and countless opportunities, but it is the atmosphere of enthusiasm and warmth that keeps students excited to walk through the front doors every day.
Hi! My name is Haley, and I am a current Sophomore at St. Mary’s Academy. Choosing to attend St. Mary’s has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have found an amazing community of the most generous friends and the most supportive teachers. Everyone is always looking out for each other and cares about others so deeply. All the teachers I have had are very passionate about their subject and want you to succeed. St. Mary’s has put their students' wellbeing first during COVID and have ensured that we not only are receiving a high-quality online education but that there is a balance between school and home. I participated in safe and fun in-person activities this year, and although it made me miss in-person school—I felt an overwhelming feeling of gratitude that I have gotten to learn and grow at a place like St. Mary’s.
