St. Maria Goretti Catholic High School Reviews
Rating 4.05 out of 5 79 reviews
I attended here 4 years ago and was not a big fan. Being that I didn't attend recently, take my review with a grain of salt. However I hear not much has changed as of two year ago and if anything the culture has gotten worse. When I was there, the majority of the students weren't all that friendly and there were a number of very poor instructors. The students are ethnically diverse but they all seemed to think and believe the same things. This is not a place to grow via exposure to new ideas. I really enjoyed a few of my instructors but most of them were uninterested and not communicative. The classes may be smaller but I wouldn't expect to have a better connection with your teachers. I also feel the academic rigor refers to more busy work, not higher quality work or more educational opportunity. Sports programs are good though!
When I first started high school I was nervous, but all the kids there were very nice and I was able to make new friends easily in the inclusive environment that Goretti has to offer. All the teachers there are very qualified and passionate about what they do. There sports teams are competitive and a lot of fun to participate in. The only thing I would maybe like to see change is the amount of time and attention given to clubs.
St. Maria Goretti's diversity is what I like most about the school. We have many kids from diverse backgrounds. The teachers at the school go above and beyond to make sure we understand what needs to be done in the classroom. My teachers have prepared me to be college ready with the assignments, curriculum, and tests they give out. The students at the school help one another also during study hours and after school. Athletics at Goretti are on of the best. Playing basketball in the BCL (Baltimore Catholic League) has been one of my best experiences also. The league was very competitive every night. I have enjoyed attending school at Goretti.
