St. Luke's has been transformational for our family. One child graduated a few years ago and another is there now - they both started as students in St. Luke's 5th grade. My older child would cry before school in 4th grade which led us to start to look at new schools. Within 3 weeks of being at St. Luke's, his teacher identified a learning challenge that his prior public school had never noticed. We worked with St. Luke's to come up with a learning plan that was perfect. No more tears! In fact, this boy started to LOVE school. The creativity, care, and attention that the St. Luke's faculty demonstrates to students in small classes is so special. That same boy is now a student at a highly competitive college, playing a varsity sport that he discovered he had a talent for at St. Luke's, and he is thriving in school and in life. Our second St. Luke's student is having an equally powerful experience. St. Luke's is a wonderful school and we recommend it whole heartedly!

We recently withdrew our child from St. Luke's after entering at fifth grade. What once was a congenial and welcoming school sadly has become woke, hostile and divisive. We know multiple families that feel precisely the same way with several electing to transfer elsewhere and numerous other considering doing the same. Relatively recent administrative changes to the middle school combined with feigned acquiescence by the Head of School have created an environment that is clearly at odds with the more traditional New Canaan community in which the school is based. St. Luke's curriculum is increasingly permeated by 'progressive' indoctrination with predictable results. It is a pity, because when we enrolled our child the school truly was exceptional. Now, it is edging closer to mediocrity albeit extremely expensive mediocrity. Having said that, the school's facilities are outstanding, particularly with regard to music and the arts.
Overall, we have had a very good experience with SLS. While clearly expensive, the school has outstanding facilities and teachers. There are so many high quality courses and other educational and extracurricular opportunities available to students that any inability to be sufficiently challenged is on the student not the school. We have found almost all teachers highly trained, fully engaged and readily accessible. SLS is not overly academic or overly athletic or overly artsy - it does a nice job balancing the overall educational experience with ample resources and activities for all. The school’s administration is quite competent and responsive although we have noticed a recent bias towards political correctness that is not reflective of the New Canaan community. Finally, let me note that some reviews highly critical of SLS are either from someone with no knowledge whatsoever of the school or are merely a parent venting because their child was not offered admission.
