It's a great school with wonderful teachers. The academics are fairly strong and the teachers are willing to tailor to individual needs. The administration is very responsive, and abreast of the school life and dynamics. Great experience overall.
We recently moved to the area in the summer 2016. My boy's attended a top (nonparochial) private school in the midwest, and they did not want to leave. It only took 3 weeks before they called St. Luke's home! The teachers and administrative staff are very engaged with the students; they know all of the kids and partner with the parents to form the whole child. When I asked my boys what makes St. Luke's different than their last school, they told me that the teachers explain things better. The curriculum is appropriate for my boys; they are not overwhelmed by homework or exams, although they are challenged. They provide lunch daily. The extended day and after school activities are great! The diversity at this school is wonderful; no matter what background you come from (religiously or ethnically), this school will embrace you. I highly recommend St. Luke's!
We moved our daughter from public school in the Alamo Heights ISD to SLES five years ago and haven't regretted the decision. Even though the curriculum is accelerated, she is thriving with the small classroom size and the creative approaches to teaching. This is a great school for children with all kinds of learning styles, as the teachers make a big effort to utilize hands on learning, game oriented computer based reinforcement of ideas, and team projects that are actually fun, in addition to the more traditional approaches. The other great thing about this school is that the children are actually very kind to each other and there is a family feeling within the grades. We are so happy that we found SLES!
