St. Lawrence is not the same school is was when we started 7 years ago. Most of what we loved about the school is gone. They used to offer so much- drama club, chess, golf, scouts for all grades, mini Mustangs sports, ski club, daddy daughter dances, etc. All that is left for kids to participate in for the most part is CYO sports. They don’t even offer art as a special!! This is not all due to covid. More concerning is we are losing our beloved teachers to public schools. Most parochial schools cannot compete with public school pay, but St. Lawrence used to make up for that in supportive families, small class sizes, and teacher support. That is all gone. It’s no wonder our teachers are leaving. My 1st grader has almost 30 kids in her class with only a part time aide. At one point the preschool was begging parents to assist because they had no staff. Our public school caps class size for elementary at 24! I used to love St. Lawrence but after 7 years, this will be our last year.
We are extremely proud to have sent our 4 children to St. Lawrence. This school offers a challenging curriculum as well as many different activities. From CYO sports to Scouts, there is something for everyone. All 4 of our children went on to the Catholic High Schools into Honors programs. St. Lawrence is the whole package with the church, school, athletics, and community. It has been a true blessing in our lives.
St. Lawrence Catholic School actively taught me what it is like to unite together with friends and family to strive for certain goals. St. Lawrence emphasized teamwork and allowed me to learn how to be a good teammate and friend to the rest of my classmates. I have learned many lessons and made so many unforgettable memories at this school.
