Most of the staff are excellent! They teach their subjects well and with passion, and seem to genuinely care about their students. Most of them also realize that high school isn't always about learning English or Statistics, they include life skills and give advice to students. However, there are a couple teachers who are not nearly as caring as their peers, and it shows when you're in their classroom. I once actually had a teacher tell my class "I really don't care about anything you do outside of this class, I'm not here to be your friend I'm here to teach you English." While she gave a valid point, it made me feel not valued or cared about whenever I entered her class. Luckily, I've only had a few teachers like this.
St. Joseph is a great high school! The best education in the district! The environment is so clean and tight. As an African American student, the only thing I would change about the school is the diversity rate and the race of teachers. Growing up I was the only black kid in the class, which affected me in many ways. I wish it was more people of my color who attended the school. There is also no black staff at the school, which is also sad. Other than the lack of diversity, and favoritism towards students. The school is the best. Not every black student will experience these problems such as racial issues but they are there.
St. Joseph High School is one of the best schools I've been to. So many opportunities for AP in all core classes and some extra ones. They also support the arts: band, orchestra, choir, and a yearly musical. Not to mention the Variety Show. I feel like there's a club for everyone at the school some of which are Spanish club, E-Sports club, Baking club, and a 2 community service clubs. There's almost every sport I can imagine there as well: football, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, swimming. Everyone is welcoming and it was easy to make friends for me when I first moved there: no one judged me or gave me any "looks."
