St. Joseph Catholic School is overall a great school. Although it is a somewhat smaller private school, I find it to have a very welcoming environment. I’ve created long-lasting friendships and been challenged in the classroom, making for a balanced learning experience. The campus is beautiful both throughout the day and during event nights. As of now, I’ve been going to St. Joseph for five years, and I can confidently say that I wouldn’t have wanted to spend my middle and high school years anywhere else. I’m grateful to have gone to St. Joe.
Saint Joseph was a very inclusive school. There is no discrimination against the students from any background a child may have grown up in. Sports coaches are very serious about their jobs although and won’t let their athletes participate in after school clubs. Which should change in the future so the athletes can grow into well rounded individuals. They have a wide variety of sports ranging from archery to sailing. Also the swim team are state champions. I recommend participating! They read over the announcements facts about black history in February. Also Saint Joe annually holds an hour long black history dedication show students produced and directed. The rules are very strict and teachers enforce them at all times. They are only preparing you for the real world though. Saint Joe is another family away from home and I recommend attending.
It is a pretty good school. The teachers really care about their students and it has a pretty campus.
There are some things to complain about. For example, some of the teachers who teach certain classes are not well versed in the subjects that they are teaching, and just put teachers wherever they are needed. Also, one class at this school is racist and homophobic, but it is only one grade. Finally, it is hard to fit in if you have different likings and a slight different “style” than the people who go there.
The teachers and the not fitting in are minor problems, but the racism is. As a Hispanic/white girl, I see it as a problem that needs to be fixed ASAP.
Also the cafeteria food is not that good. But I am glad I go to this school.
