SJA wasn't on my list of schools I wanted to look at until I shadowed in 8th grade. I am not Catholic, didn't want an all-girls school, didn't know anyone, and was very shy. I absolutely LOVED it. The atmosphere was noticeably different than anywhere else I shadowed. Everyone was over-the-top welcoming. I can't say how much I have loved my time here. After a couple years with only 4 subjects of homework every night, I am a huge advocate for block scheduling. The school spirit is tremendous. As an introvert, I have never felt able to put myself out there as I have at SJA. I have gotten involved in multiple clubs, varsity sports, done lots of service, and have taken 3 trips with the school. No school is perfect, but the pros to SJA far outweigh the cons. I will be so sad when my senior year is over, but I feel well-prepared for college. I am applying to some selective schools, including two Ivys, with good chances of getting in. I know I will always be part of this amazing community!

This year i shadowed Magnificat High School and Saint Joseph Academy. I’m going into my eighth grade year coming soon in a month and this year i have to narrow it down. Overall I enjoyed Magnificat a lot better. The reasons why I loved Magnificat was because of their schedule, food, overall environment, and because of performing arts. The reasons why I did not like SJA is because their hallways and classrooms are VERY SMALL! Including the lockers. Their cafeteria was nice but the food was not good at all. And their classes are 80 minutes long! The school is also farther away from my house. I’m 99.9% sure I will be choosing Magnificat! I bet you SJA is a great school but my needs were not met. Darn.
I haven’t yet begun high school but I am deciding where I want to go next year. When I narrowed it down to two options, Magnificat and Saint Joseph Academy, I was leaning toward Magnificat. They had more of a variety of summer camps and more free activities to do during the winter on weekends. I really wish Saint Joseph would’ve provided similar opportunities. Oh well! I went to a few camps there and they were not very good, honestly. To improve more, try making a bigger variety of camps.
