As what the school would call a "lifer," I personally attended the school since kindergarten, all the way up to senior year. The school's handling of COVID-19 was an utter disappointment and exposed the embarrassing incompetence of the faculty members. The school thrives on covering up problems and offering leeway to rich white students. The school's math curriculum is about one year behind every single other school in the nation and should not be taken lightly. Among many other horrible experiences, this school is going downhill very rapidly and I would highly recommend perusing other options in the area for prospective students.
St. Johns Country Day is an extraordinary school and there is no truer validation than as an alumni, to purposefully move close by when our children were born so that they could reap the benefits as I did. A beautiful combo of the highest academics, arts, sports and community can be found here. You could not find a better place to nurture and grow a superior education than at this school. Take a tour and check out all that St. Johns has to offer!
As a member of the school, I enjoy the small community and I feel SJ could be a hidden treasure .. unfortunately it's really not. I admit, most faculty care and new renovations are looking great and I applaud new management for taking this on, but Im saddened to know that students and faculty have little to no input on any decisions and communication at this school needs so much help. The school puts excellent help on families in financial situations and the application process, but the school reminds me of a public school glorified. Education is consistent but its not very exciting or hands on. Clubs here are small and not really exciting or engaging and the highly applauded fellowships are way over hyped from Admin and did not/ are not preparing me in my work fields. Its a small school with lots of competition near by- great for kids who need some help or can not fit in the public school environment, not for students wanting to get better opportunities.
