My child gained a great deal of confidence at this school. She graduated as 8th grade valedictorian, and was accepted into a top-notch high school. However, her first year in high school was a challenge because the rigor of the academics at this college-prep high school was much more intense that at DLS. She had the core basics, however, and her new high school is so fantastic that she was able to quickly adapt and now is doing very well in high school.

This school was fantastic, with many opportunities for kids to be involved. My daughter was on many teams, in clubs, and in academic organizations while attending. She was one of very few African American kids (the population was largely Filipino) but she always felt accepted and welcomed.
The teams are more recreational than competitive. They served our purpose; my daughter was a competitive gymnast outside of school, so the teams at school were more like fun activities for her.
