St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s is a hidden gem on the Upper West Side. My son has been a student for the last four years in the Lower School, and he loves his dedicated teachers, the impressive facility and the well-balanced academics. He thrives on the structured schedule, which includes an impressive array of specialist classes—art, greenhouse, languages, library, music, religious knowledge and daily physical education. He’s also a huge fan of the outdoor playdeck with its open space for soccer, basketball, four square and imaginative block play! My husband and I feel fortunate to have discovered this school’s nurturing environment where the academics progress in a thoughtful way designed to build confidence and enthusiasm for learning. Plus, we are thankful for the many memorable experiences that honor this school’s rich traditions and give children a strong sense of purpose in their lives.

We are so grateful for this amazing school and community! Our boys span the early childhood, lower school, and upper school, and it is so wonderful to see how much they are learning and how much they truly love St. Hilda’s and St. Hugh’s. Exceptional leadership from the head of the school has resulted in a unique program for an elementary school (age 2 – 8th grade), that is so strong across the academics, arts and athletics. While the faculty are outstanding, students also benefit from the focus on small classes and the younger years, and from wonderful facilities. A strong focus on diversity and inclusion and community service, also helps children develop a very strong foundation. SHSH does an exceptional job developing well-rounded students, that are so well-prepared to move onto top high schools.
My teachers at St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's were amazing! St. Hilda's is a small school where every student really does receive individual attention and support from teachers. I felt like I received a strong middle school education across all subjects, and I left feeling well prepared and ready for a rigorous high school. I also remember St. Hilda's being very helpful in guiding us all through the high school application and testing process -- I actually remember feeling more prepared for the college process having done it for high school. I think what I most appreciated was how the school offered a top-notch education, while still allowing us to be kids and to have fun. I remember loving the "playdeck" as a kid -- it was so nice to have an outdoor green space in an NYC school. I have a lot of happy memories from this school!
