Our family has a long history with St. Francis School with 3 children attending both the Goshen campus and the high school and our experience has been nothing short of wonderful. There are several schools in our community that offer academic rigor, however, St. Francis sets itself apart with its small class sizes, impressively credentialled, engaged faculty and inclusive school culture. The fact is that its student body is diverse and truly reflects the make up of our community. Students here are well known by both staff and faculty and are treated with respect and encouraged to be independent. It is an excellent college preparatory school with an impressive college acceptance rate particulary for such a small school. St. Francis is a top notch school and reflects the best in education today.
Being transplants to Louisville, we did our due-diligence when deciding on a school for our kids. There are many solid choices out there, but what sets SFS aside for us is the school's focus on instilling a love of learning, and encouraging students to strive for academic excellence that may or may not fit the mold. In our experience, the teachers are excited about teaching. They integrate their own personal interests and expertise into the classroom experience. The end effect is that the kids learn genuine lessons, while also getting to personally know their teachers. We love that our children often take their science classes outdoors, or are able to collect natural art supplies from the grounds. It is not uncommon for math and science teachers to coordinate with art and LASS teachers to engage in cross-topic lessons. Learning about money in math? No problem: let's learn more about presidents in LASS. Learning at SFS just makes sense.
Truly an amazing school nestled on 64 acres of beautiful farmland. We have been nothing less than amazed by the quality of education that our boys receive at St. Francis. The progressive education with a focus on thought-based discussion vs. just test taking has sparked both boys’ joy for school. We are simply blown away by the art, music and elective offerings available at St. Francis. They also get recess twice a day in Middle School which as a Mom of boys I find phenomenal. They get to run off some energy on a beautiful campus which allows them to be better students throughout the day. In addition, our boys have become involved in extra-curricular activities such as soccer, basketball and drama. I would also be remiss if I did not mention that the staff at St. Francis, from the administration to the teachers, are the most caring, thoughtful and intelligent group of people. We are thrilled that we chose St.Francis. It is truly a special place.
