From St. Francis School

We are truly "the School of Thought" – a diverse community that emphasizes intellectual achievement in an atmosphere of individual acceptance; a PS - 12th grade school that is college-preparatory in the truest sense of the word. Our High School location downtown allows students to interact with the urban community, and the open campus teaches students to balance freedom with responsibility. Our 64-acre Preschool - 8th grade campus in Goshen creates a positive, joyful educational experience for children aged 2+. We respect children as curious scientists and mathematicians, as creative writers and artists, and as changemakers for a more just and equitable world. We believe children thrive when taken seriously as learners and as human beings. Our teachers ensure continuous progress and skill development, engaging our students' curiosity and challenging them to think critically. We are non-denominational, affordable, diverse, accommodating, & accessible. With bus service & financial aid.

St. Francis is absolutely the best school in town in terms of instilling the lifelong love of learning in a child. The Goshen campus is caring, collaborative, and a truly joyful place. The high school is leaps and bounds ahead of other schools in Louisville in terms of college prep. In fact, SFS high school feels like a small college itself. The students are taught to be respectful of one another, and the teachers are purposeful, thoughtful, and absolute experts in their area of study. The "School of Thought" is accurate. Students are encouraged to be curious, and truly engage in the learning experience. No getting away with simply memorizing information, here. The end result: thoughtful, intelligent, curious adults who want to continue to learn something new every day.

The education I received was outstanding. I have attended public, catholic and private schools in Louisville and the education I received here is unmatched. However, since everyone is required to play a sport all four years they end up making athletics seem like a joke. I had played field hockey for 12 years and was team captain m senior year, but I felt like nobody truly cared or supported our team. Also, while diverse, if you are in anyway politically conservative you will be ridiculed and constantly degraded for your conservative opinion.
The teachers are incredible. You form wonderful connections with them and find friends and mentors for life. It's small enough so that you can really get to know them, and your classmates. One downside: despite touting its diversity, the school seems to be mostly wealthy white kids.
