As a current high school junior, I can confidently say that St. Edmund's fully prepared me for high school academics. My freshman year I was able to take advanced classes with older students and get ahead of the standard curriculum. I definitely attribute my academic success to the content and skills I learned at SEA. In addition to being a great school academically, St. Edmund's also has a very welcoming community filled with supportive teachers, administration, and students. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to go to this amazing school!
Really Great preschool experience! - starting with a very well organized, responsive and enjoyable admissions process. Teachers and staff are both professional and personable - you feel like they really care for your child as a person and a student, and engage with you as a parent as well. Parents of other children in class are engaged and friendly, my son has easily made good friends - even though we've only been there a year, already feel like part of the community. Love that the kids go outside and engage in physical activity multiple times per day. There's a good balance of creative/unstructured play and guided learning, which I was looking for in a preschool experience. Also like the flexible scheduling (half & full day) plus great after-school programs and extended day care.
I love the diversity of our school, and it's something you won't find in other school in the city. The teachers know my kids so well. They treat them like family members, which sounds cliche but is true. They have very high standards for kids in the classrooms but they teach kids how to maintain that level of rigor in an enjoyable way that does not cause them undue anxiety. My kids are learning how to balance their academics, sports, outside activities, and fun with their friends in a way that I envy! Most importantly though, everyone in school reinforces the messages about kindness, consideration, empathy, and respect for differences that we're telling them at home. This was something notably missing from our public school experience and, in my opinion, is worth the financial sacrifice to send them to this school. Choosing this school will likely go down as one of the best decisions I've made for them in their lives. It's a very special place.
