The building is falling apart and is very dated which leaves students at a severe disadvantage and the faculty is not friendly and willing to help their students. The guidance counselor is extremely difficult to communicate with which makes college applications very difficult. However, academically St. Clairsville ranks one of the top schools in the Ohio Valley.
Some teachers try, but most just go through the motions. Classes are filled to the brink. Facilities are dirty and decrepit. There are cracks in the walls, the buildings heat only works sometimes, and it doesn't have a/c. Food is pretty bad most of the time, though sometimes there is something good. There is mold is most the bathrooms, and the ceiling leaks.
The school is mostly known for having amazing academics, athletics, and teachers. It has helped me prepare for college as much as a high school can.
In St.Clairsville there is a lot of entitlement. Our cheerleaders shirts say born better and stuff like that. Yes our academics and sports are second to almost none in our area but more than anything I want us to be kinder to each other and the other schools around us. I came to the school during seventh grade from private school and I have just now come to terms with the fact that not everyone will like you, and that's okay. For me though my worst few years were hell. For someone who came in and was deemed "weirder" than me i can only imagine what would happen. I think the world just deserves a little more kindness, but trust me there are diamonds in the rough. I have made some of the best friends I could have ever asked for from this school, and I just want people to know there are nice kids in every preppy school.
All in all, Saint Clairsville High School isn’t a bad school. We might not have air conditioners, and we may be in need of some remodeling, but connecting to the teachers and staff is an experience that I feel isn’t attainable at every school.
A new school building. At the moment the high school building is around 40 years old, and lacks a diversity in the number of programs available to students looking for specific classes. This also means the facilities have room for improvement.
I loved it at St. Clairsville High school! I loved the teachers, they truly care about the students!! I’m proud to have graduated from here in 2019! My high school time went by way too fast! The school really makes you feel comfortable and you have fun while learning what you need! It’s definitely approved over the years administration wise which is amazing!! Did I mention the spirt this school has for their athletics?! Outrageous! Forever a Red Devil!!
The general experience of saint clairsville schools depends on who you are. cheerleader or football player, you're probably going on homecoming court The arts get appreciated and funded but is still shadowed by football. Basketball/cross country/volleyball are the next known groups and soccer below that. The rest are forgotten and never appreciated. The students can be jerks, tearing down decorations or just mocking others. The top staff (principal, assistant principal, superintendent) seem to care about students a lot more than normal staff but staff generally is kind to students but are completely biased. The classwork is generally boring or overwhelming, depending on the courses you choose. food has gotten better through the years they offer free meal plans for those who cant afford it. There are opportunities to find your future and if you have questions theres always a staff member in the office that will most likely know.
Definitely has teachers that will impact your life. Needs less focus on sports and more on academics.
I liked the high school but don’t believe I was adequately prepared for college and higher academics.
Overall I enjoyed going there, but the academics are not strong. Some teachers do motivate and challenge their students, but most give busy work and A's just for showing up to class.
Practically no diversity, extreme value on sports over the arts and education, disciplinary actions very biased, small town syndrome.
There are many aspects about this school that I like. We do great at many sports, we do well in academics, etc. However, there are a small handful of teachers that genuinely care about their students and their jobs.
Most parents at this school are only involved or interested in their own childs success. They also are mostly uninvolved with their child's behavioral problems and allow things like bullying, fighting, or failor of classes. Over all I would say parentinvolvement is bad at this school.
Most of the teachers are friendly and care about their students success. They try to ensure each student gets the type of help needed to be a productive successful graduate come the end of their schooling.
Our school puts the most into our safety. We have a resource officer, multiple nurses, and the police dept. on call. They do the most amazing job they can do to keep us safe.
Every coach puts the most into what they do. It always makes for a great expirence
