I admire the leadership and readiness the school teaches these young men for the real world. They are not only focused on academic skills, but life long skills. They treat each student as adults, encourage them to make decisions that will not only affect themselves, but their fellow brothers. Fr. Edwin Leahy is an excellent role model to so many of these young men, in so many ways other than just the Headmaster of the school. He truly motivates each child and treats them as his own. Hard work is an understatement to describe this school. As a parent on the Rowing Team, these last 4 years has been equally strenuous on us as well. Planning and prepping for the regattas to ensure that the kids and coaches are well fed for the day, to ensure that they have everything they need in not so favorable weather. We, as parents are all in as well. It truly takes a village!

I just recently graduated from there. Honestly during my time at St. Benedict's I didn't like the school very much, but who doesn't like their school while attending it? Every day I would talk about how graduation couldn't come fast enough. But now that I've graduated I miss it. I always thought the alumni from a class ahead of me were lying when they came back to the school and told us how much the school is helping them out now that they are out in the real world. They used to tell us how they are able to attain multiple opportunities just because they tell people that they went to St. Benedict's. Now that i'm able to experience the real word for myself, i finally understand what they meant. It's almost as if I get treated better than my peers in college for certain things just because I attended St. Benedict's.
The community/brotherhood is the best aspect of the school. Students create life long friendships and grow together daily. The academics are ok, but many of the teachers are not great in delivering the material and rush through certain lessons. Teachers can also be a bit disrespectful and unconcerned with how they talk to you. The school itself is not always clean and needs updating. Athletics, especially varsity soccer and basketball are put on a high pedestal. If you are not highly recruited to play, chances are you will not make varsity. Communication with parents about student progress is very minimal. Once again it is the community that keeps the students coming back that's an A++
