I loved St. Augustine High School. It has so much to offer, from the AICE program, to St. Johns County Center for the Arts, to an aerospace program, you can tailor your experience at SAHS to what you want it to be! The teachers are wonderful, always very supportive and willing to help you if you are struggling. Overall, I am proud to have graduated from St. Augustine High School.
SAHS is a performing arts focused school. I have had a very good experience in this aspect of my education, as the performing arts staff have been very supportive and encouraging and challenged me to improve my craft in many different ways including chorus, jazz band, and drama. Outside of the performing arts hall, however, there is a different story. The school as a whole is overcrowded and understaffed, and there is a consistent poor attitude towards education in most if not all non-musical classes I have been in. I believe if the staff were better suited to their positions and were more open minded, it would result in a better attitude in the student body. I would like to see the same pursuit of self improvement that is evident in the performing arts program to spread to the rest of the school's programs and activities. If not for this program I would certainly have rated SAHS less than 3 stars.
My experience at Saint Augustine so far has been great with the academy that I’m I involved with such as the SJCCA Advance Theatre and Chamber Mixed Chours since my freshmen year. My school shows so much pride for our Yellow Jackets football team combined with a wide variety of other sports our school offers. The “SJCCA”, Saint Johns County Center for the Arts offers Drama, Chours, Musical Theatre, Guitar, Band, and Piano with the most absolute wonderful teachers that spend so much of their time devoted to these great unique classes with every student that is in the class and also involved with the parents. Saint Augustine High shows so much talent with the programs I’ve been apart of with almost every student working harder everyday.
