If you want your child to experience experiential learning, a diverse student body, an amazingly beautiful 500+ acre campus and a faculty dedicated to providing individual based education then SAS is the place! Our children attended and could not have been happier. The blend of academics, the arts and athletics provided each of our children a feeling of inclusivity and accomplishment and fully prepared them for college. The ability to take college courses at nearby Sewanee was instrumental in lessening the fear of the unknown when our children went to universities. What a campus! Over 500 acres opens students to the outdoors- hiking, biking, camping, lake swimming, rock climbing- the list goes on.

It is generally a great school, with beautiful campus and good enmironment. Teachers here are kind and helpful. Although lots of excellent teachers left recently, most new teachers still have good teaching skills. Also, the faculty really care about students, if you need help, they will definitely talk to you and solve your concerns.
However, there are several limitations that hinder the school from getting a five star. It is too rural! It is literally located in the middle of nowhere. There are merely a few shops and chain restaurants, and for international students like me, we can only go there by school bus on Monday and weekends, sometimes on Wednesday. Also, drugs and cigerrates are present on compus.
For me, the best part of SAS is the student culture. Most schools are far more negatively competitive, struggling with bullying and a clique based structure. Because SAS is such a small school, the students are far more integrated between grades and social groups, creating a more supportive culture and environment that allows students to thrive when they take advantage of the benefits of this culture. It encourages involvement in the community and strives to build a positive atmosphere, and when students buy into this ideology, they are able to excel and find a home at St. Andrew's Sewanee School.
