I transferred to Springport my freshman year. The reason I did was to get more involved in the FFA and all the fun activities the school had. My first week of school was amazing! I thought I wasn't going to like it because I was "the new kid". The students and teachers were very welcoming and made me feel comfortable there. Hallways and classrooms always were clean, you would just see someone doing a random act of kindness, like picking up trash on the ground or helping a teacher hang up posters in the halls! Now that it is my last year in high school, that all felt like a blur, I laugh about how I was scared to be at a new school, because now since the school is so small and friendly, I basically know the whole school and get along with everyone!
I absolutely love Springport's Agriscience program, our FFA Chapter has been number 1 in the state of Michigan for 5 years. We have great facilities which are well taken care of. One thing I would change about our school is student involvement. With a lot of our activities, it is the same kids participating and helping run events. I feel as though with more student involvement it would run smoother and more effeciently.
Springport is a small town and everyone knew everyone. I went to school with the same kids my whole life and we were in class together and played sports together throughout my school years. Springport had great teachers and the teachers were part of the small community. Most of them were from the same town and knew our families. I thought that because they were from the town they were more willing to help.
