Expeditionary Learning
Why do we travel at Spring Street? Each fall and spring, the classroom expands to the trails of the North Cascades mountain range, to the halls of the Met, to teahouses in the Himalayas, and beyond. Providing a global perspective through language immersion, trekking, homestays, museums, and service projects our expeditionary learning program challenges students to put theory into practice.

Spring Street International School Reviews
I would appreciate if the school was a bit less college prep oriented but they are adapting to their student body and clientele. Even though there is a heavy focus on academics and too much homework (imo) they are relatively alternative, especially when compared to an East Coast Prep boarding school.
I think that even during Covid the town of Friday Harbour has been a fun place to be and I love that the students can walk to the beach or coffee shop if they need to get a break from campus.
The school is not perfectly equipped for learners who need extra support (IEP, etc) but the attentive staff and small teacher-student ratio make up for this.
Overall, I highly recommend the boarding program, 100%.
During another visit, I was able to learn more about their fantastic hands-on film production classes from the film instructor. He has built a wonderful classroom and studio for the students to work out of for their productions.
The Spring Street students are so lucky to have such dedicated teachers and to be so well-immersed and engaged in their subjects!
