First off, the principal and staff are truly the saving grace of this school. They are highly involved and passionate about making SHMS a great place. Unfortunately, my student has been bullied (physically and verbally) by numerous kids who seem to coast seemingly little to no repercussions over the last two years. The parents I’ve seen are more involved in their phones and cliques than their kids. Don’t let reviews of this town from 3+ years ago lead you to a conclusion. As previously stated though, the new principal seems to have a better grasp on the situation so far this year and I’m hopeful for the change he’s trying to make.

I like SHMS because the teachers and students are all open to everyone. The teachers are very involved. The school is very clean. We have very modern technology. The parents are very involved, especially during 8th grade promotion, where most of it was planned by the PTO. We have extracurricular activities for everyone, not just sports. I would like for the school to have more clubs. Maybe like some for science, or art. I would also like to see the school have some sort of awareness group led by the students, like the high school does. It is called SADD, or students against destructive decisions.
