What I like about SMSA is the involvement that teachers and administrators have with the students. Along with the employees like the lunch ladies, Janitors and security guards. They all connect well with the students and make a safe and progressive environment. What I would like to see be changed in SMSA is the increase in safety measures for students. I would also like to see the students treat the teachers with respect.
Sport and Medical Sciences Academy is a great magnet school here in Hartford. The staff here are kind and respectful to all students. They help students when they need it and offer support even outside of academics. The Capstone program here, which is a service-learning project, is great and I believe it prepares every graduating senior for college and the new stage of their life.
Over the past 6 years of being at Sports & Medical Sciences Academy, I've learned so much about myself and the career path I'm willing to take once I graduate. From middle school, all the way to my senior year, the facility members at this school are open to discuss what classes are the best fit for me and willing to teach new material. The diversity and knowing that staff members at this school want the best for students is what makes this a great fit for any student who is willing to learn more than just classes but to learn what life will be like on our own. No school is perfect, especially when everyone has their own experiences, so one thing that does improve at Sports & Medical Sciences Academy is the drive and seriousness many students take for granted leading up to graduating high school.
