I liked how although it was a bigger school compared to surrounding communities, everyone knew everyone. Also, for being a relatively small school, Spencer had a place for EVERYONE. Academically, sports, fine arts, chess club, you name it. Whatever your hobby, chances are there was a way to get involved with it through school.
Spencer High School is the best school in the area. However, it's very difficult there for kids who aren't middle class or richer and who aren't white. Generally, it was fine but could be much better academically. There's a big divide between the kids who do well in school and the ones who don't, so much that it seems like the teachers don't even care to see them catch up.
Overall, Spencer High School has definitely prepared me for college through various AP courses and others that offer college credit. A majority of the teachers work their hardest to ensure that each of their students fully understands the course material and will even work with students to help them outside of class. The flexibility of the teachers is probably what I am most thankful for throughout all of my high school experience.
