At Spencer Co. High School groups such as sports teams, and clubs are well organized. The school also places a emphasis on creating a safe environment for all students to be themselves and to lean on each other for support. The teachers and staff encourages students to further their academics after high school, and there are many opportunities for students to participate in classes that interest them. One thing I would change or improve is the schools communication with students and parents. A lot of times, students miss some opportunities because they do not know they are available. If everyone knew what was going on around them, there would be better student participation in activities.

There isn't a lot of diversity, but is in the country. It is the only high school in the county so eventually everyone will get together. The teachers and administrators are very friendly, but as with any school, some personal needs are up to students to take advantage of. There could be better communication to the students about important events and information, but there is a lot of contact through email. Most teachers are good about communicating information and provide apps, such as google classroom or remind, for whole class and personal conversing.
Spencer County has a very small town feel. When you go there you know just about everyone. The class options are pretty good, although some have to be taught via a computer (like French, Entrepreneurship, etc). Because this school is in a small Kentucky town, there is little diversity. Aside from the occasional Confederate flag, there weren't many issues. The school is very safe. The doors remain locked and teachers and administrators are stationed at main entrances every morning to keep an eye out. The county is somewhat limited in resources and facilities, but it rarely got in the way of a good education and a pleasant time at the school. If you put an effort into being involved at Spencer County via clubs, athletics, likeminded people, classes you like, etc you'll have a wonderful time here.
