When I first found out I was attending the most populated school in the district I was completely terrified! I was coming from a small charter school where their was classes of 20 kids and classes at Spanish Springs were almost double that. I was also excited at the same time. I could make new friends and have the regular high school experience everyone always talks about! Spanish Springs is definitely one of the best schools in Washoe County! When it comes to athletics and academics! We’re all a family that wants to see each and everyone of us strive for success! And that’s just one of the very few things I loved about this school! I could not see myself graduating from any other school! Spanish Springs has turned into a home for my family and I!

Spanish Springs High School gives great direction to all students by offering a variety of classes that will help them succeed. There is the Sports Medicine Academy, C3 Media Academy, Automotive Technology, JROTC, Jobs for American Graduates (JAG), Honors classes and AP classes, and so many more classes offered to help students on their path to the start of their career. There are clubs that unite students with a common interest or goal. Spanish Springs High School has given me the opportunity to be apart of the Marching band, Sports Medicine Academy, HOSA, National Honors Society, Spanish National Honors Society, and take classes that help me prepare for my future in college and my future career. At SSHS there is encouragement from teachers, counselors, and administrators to have fun with learning and being involved with the school and community.
Spanish Springs High School was a valuable experience, both academically and socially. The school offered a variety of classes, many of which were the more challenging AP or Honors credits, which were headed by educator who took the students' needs seriously, and were willing to work through their lunches and well after the release bell every day with any student who desired to excel. Spanish Springs athletics were some of the best in Nevada, with the Cross Country, Wrestling and Swim teams all placing first in state. I was on the wrestling team, and am proud to say that the league title has been ours for more than fourteen years, and our school has taken the regional title nearly as often. Best of all though, the atmosphere in Spanish Springs is one of union. Of course, just like anywhere else we have our problems, but in the end we are all Cougars together, and stand by each other against any opposition.
