Spanish River Christian School Reviews
Rating 3 out of 5 7 reviews
I sent all three of my sons to Spanish River Christian and have never regretted that decision. They all went on to the High Schools and Colleges of their choosing, and two played college sports. The quality of education, and the character development they received while at SRCS has carried on throughout their adult life. I believe the school was instrumental in forming the foundation for the men they are today. A true testament to the school is that the past students of the school are now sending their to the school. The teachers are there because of their love of the children and the love of teaching. I find it interesting that the two negative reviews for the school came from STUDENTS that were asked to leave. I can assure you that if you are asked to leave any school, the problem is with you...not the school.
When reading these reviews please take time to observe what former students say vs. what parents say. A school can be great for a parent but terrible for the child. I found that to be the case with this school. From my time there, views were strongly skewed to the right and I had no reason to believe any differently. The history curriculum was extremely Eurocentric and white-washed. This school's primary purpose is indoctrination and I doubt even the school itself could argue that. It represses free and critical thinking and rewards ignorance and compliance. Please let your child decide for themselves what they believe!
As someone who attended this school from preschool through 8th grade, I would highly recommend not sending your child here, especially if they are female. Once I started going through puberty, it became clear to me that this school only viewed me as a person whose sole mission in life should be to marry a Christian man and have babies. Even though I was one of the most well-performing individuals at the school academically, none of that mattered if I did not fit perfectly into the limited role they approved for women. During middle school I was called into the principal's office during class time to have a ruler placed at the back of my thigh to be told that having a skirt more than two inches above the back of my thigh was "too distracting". I was 13 and made to be ashamed of growing and having a maturing body. I could share a lot more stories but seeing as I have limited characters I will just say that this school has a very narrow view of society, religion, sexuality, and gender.
I must say Spanish River Christian School (SRCS) is an excellent school! However, with COVID 19 and new challenges financially, few parents applied for Step Up Scholarship and approved. These parents were told their Step Up Scholarship for 2020/2021 could not be applied, the school met their quota 4 or 5 years ago. I really think without being dogmatic, given the world’s pandemic where everyone is making exception and working together, this is a selfish act. These parents now have to decline financial assistance and face with the decision to transfer to a more affordable school or worry to find personal sourcing. I know private schools depends on donations and maybe scholarship students are at a disadvantage. Be transparent, write this BOLD or make this information easily accessible on their website. I will refrain from speculations but hoping understanding and empathy can be open or explore in circumstances like this. Not a vendetta, just helpful information.
My son has been here for the past 5 years and we think it is a wonderful school. Very good academics and nice programs for the kids
teaches the radical-republic anti abortion, anti gay, anti any other religion than christianity agenda. one student was kicked out because of fallout with an influential parent's son at the school.
