Its a good school with a great program for business education and winning money through 3 yearly competitions for college education, each competition giving you a chance to earn $10,000 through your hard work during class time, and at times after-school. The school sports are exceptional, with a highlight being Southwest's Eagle Empire Wrestling Team.
However, as I am passionate about our business program, I'd like to see its main coursework in the first two years change to be more rigorous in teaching students real skills to get a business off the ground, not just the buzz-words and main concepts but asking students what industries they're interested in, helping them develop their social skills/marketing abilities, and giving assignments which work the critical thinking skills of students, especially making them consider what it is they really want to work towards in their lives.
And, the business program has a very solid accounting program too, its certainly not all negative.

The experience was great for the most part, as I was in a ton of advanced classes that helped me boost my chances of spending less money for college. Most of the teachers were great, except for a few, which I think the school could've done better on hiring/scouting. Southwest Sr. High does a great job in offering excellent dual enrollment classes, I just wish they took student critique on which teacher should teach for that class. My one complaint about my time there is the school putting me in classes I did not ask or sign up for, thus leaving me to figure out a way to get taken out of that class because the strain was too much. Overall, I had a good time at the school, and earned good experience in advanced classes.
Great school. Some teachers aren't the best I've had, but I can't complain. I know the school has been changed to have Magnets, so I'm sure educational level has improved! Besides the occasional drama, very good student body and teachers that put in hard work.
