Southwest is all around an amazing school. There are a wide variety of options for students to earn the credit required for graduation. Because of this, there's something for everyone there. There's an abundance of incredible extracurriculars and their sports are all amazing. The teachers promote communication and independence, and the block scheduling provides students with the opportunity to graduate their junior year. Only having four classes a day really simplifies your schedule and allows you to be more focused and engaged in class with a clearer mind. Southwest is also an incredibly diverse school, with lots of advocacy (both pre-established and encouraged) for minority groups.
My experience with Southwest has been great. I go to school everyday wondering what new ideas and concepts we’re going to learn in class each day. I’ve never once felt like I don’t belong. This school shows each and every individual that there is a place and pathway awaiting for them. In all my years of schooling, I believe this school has the best ideals and student body. This schools community is very understanding and forgiving. I believe everyone deserves a chance at the opportunities Southwest brings on to many students.
What I liked about the high school was the variety of programs, extracurriculars, and activities you can do to in this school! Most of the teachers are great to be with, and are memorable. The only thing I wish that is changed is that if someone does something illegal or against the law, since must be handled by the LPD, not the school.
