If you’re looking to keep your children from being associated with other races, ethnicities and religions, this is the school for you. If, however, you value education and diversity, drive on past this school. Academics are subpar and curriculum is dated. Teachers are under qualified and many uncertified. In reality, academics take a back seat to athletics. Isolating your children in this environment will not be good educationally, nor will it benefit them socially.

Southwest Georgia Academy is a small, private school in a rural area of southwest Georgia. It offers a Christian atmosphere and small class sizes to enhance learning. It employees a staff and faculty of caring, kindhearted men and women who truly care about the success of their students.Due to the location and lack of external funding sources, the technological advances are lacking. Due to small enrollment numbers, having AP classes aren't economically feasible, putting the students at a competitive disadvantage for nationwide academic recognition, scholarships and higher standardized test scores.
At SGA, I have participated in every sport and been a part of almost every other activity. The teachers at this school are very encouraging and treat each student like family. The atmosphere of this school is very welcoming and family-oriented. However, the academics here are sub-par. Some teachers are not certified for teaching college prep courses and some simply don't teach at all. The administration has been notified several times and with no result. Students at this school are not fully equipped for standardized tests, and as a result, make low test scores. As far as safety goes, the school is located in a very safe location. The school does not have access to many resources or funds as it is not a state-funded school. Parents are super involved at SGA, with many volunteering to serve as presidents of PTO and booster clubs. An open door policy allows parents to be involved with their children's learning experience. This school is and has always been predominantly white.
