I went to Southside in 2013 and the only good thing I can say about this school is that I made a ton of friends and the activities were definitely my favorite. However, I did not like the academics. The academics were poor but I had really laid back teachers. It was very diverse, and I did enjoy the clubs and activities. I did Blue Notes for both years of middle school and I can honestly say that it improved my vocal skills. It did not mentally prepare me for college but it did prepare me for High School. The food was not good, but the sports were and that is the key to playing a good game in my opinion!

Southside Middle is a great school for students to explore interests, both academically and artistically. This is my second child to attend this middle school in the last five years. There is a variety of artistic outlets for students, such as the preforming arts and visual arts. The school also has successful athletic programs for students to join. The administration has been nothing short of understanding, supportive and welcoming. The school is more focused this year on providing a positive productive learning environment for all staff and students. There are also many opportunities for parents to become informed about dangers and pressures middle school students face, and are also given various strategies and resources for helping their middle school students be successful.
My child had a problem with a teacher I contacted the schools administrators over the phone, and nothing was done. I contacted them in person they listen to what I said and still nothing happened. I asked for a call when it was handled, and that was three weeks ago. There is no follow through from administration.
