I am a new incoming Senior student transfer. My initial impression of the school was a very positive one. I was very impressed at the size and cleanliness of the school. The school’s faculty and staff are amazing. They provide a comfortable learning environment for their students. From my perspective, all of the instructors are very approachable and are always willing to assist the students with questions or concerns. I am currently enrolled in dual enrollment college classes, which can sometimes prove to be challenging. The teachers there provided positive encouragement and always helped redirect me at times that I became confused or discouraged. I am very impressed with this school and would highly recommend it to others.
I have loved my time at SHS, and I can testify that it is a phenomenal option for all students. SHS offers regular academic classes, as well as AP and DE options for more academically inclined students. They offer interesting electives and a great deal of sports. The only downsides are the lack of funding for fine arts, such as the theater program. The school also does not have their own football field, which creates inconvenient game times and locations. However, the academics at SHS and the teachers employed by the school create a wonderful work environment where students can effectively learn. The teachers care about the well-being of their students, and they often tailor their teaching techniques based upon what their students need. While I wish there were more Honors, AP, and DE options, the school has an incredible amount of academic resources, especially considering how new the school is. Overall, SHS is wonderful school with a beautiful facility and valuable staff and faculty.
Southside opened it’s doors in 2017 and I entered as a freshman. I think because of this, there aren’t many of our own traditions that make it more of a high school experience and fun. Although, classes are very easy to keep up with and the teachers care a lot about their students and their grades! The physical features of the school are absolutely gorgeous and very “high tech”. Going to a school that has new furniture and new pretty much everything, i’m very grateful for that because so know the school’s in my area are definitely not as nice as Southside.
