I'm currently a high school senior at Southside High School and I'm about to graduate in about two weeks. Therefore, I believe that this is an acceptable opportunity to share my overall experiences in this facility. To begin, I'll first say that my school is unique. The inter-nationality that it provides gives a brief visual of the school itself welcoming students around the world, receiving a great amount of education from our school. The students there recieves that education well, being provided with a chance to take "International Baccalaureate" Program. Even without the IB program, the school itself makes sure that the student is success ready for their future!

As a rising senior, I have experienced both the tremendously positive aspects of Southside High School as well as some shortcomings. SHS experiences a great disparity among the student body, with some students scoring well above average on standardized testing and the others scoring near the opposite extreme. I am currently in the IB Diploma Program which offers an accelerated and rigorous college curriculum that allows students to transfer high school credits to college internationally. While Southside has well-renowned academics given to a small percentage of the student body, the school entirely is arguable greatly underfunded, which in turn results in a lower quality of education, sports, clubs, and opportunities. Overall, Southside High School has both benefits and drawbacks, but I believe that students will have a unique experience that teaches them how to surpass challenges and achieve their fullest potential.
Southside High School has to be, if not is the most diverse school in Greenville County. The student body is compromised of a variety of cultures and all contribute to the diversity found throughout the school. Many members of the teaching staff love their jobs and make excellent parental figures. I know that my sister had one teacher in particular who she would confide any issues or disturbances that she felt were too overwhelming for us to know. The IB program is wonderful and is an enriching experience for many students. None of that would be possible without the aid of Dr. Collins. Of course, there are notable downsides, most notably the varying attitudes within the student body and school spirit, but we all managed to put differing mindsets aside when times became difficult, such as the incident in 2016. Overall, the school was a pleasure to be part of and I will forever be proud to say that I wear the stripes of a Southside Tiger!
