My family has seen such tremendous change and growth over the years at Southmoor. The school looks at every child and their individual level, and has in place opportunities for them to succeed. Whether getting extra intervention if they are behind or being challenged if they are ready for it. They look at the children's individual learning styles as well. Project based learning, maker-space, enrichment programs, great use of technology. Teachers are happy and feel empowered to shape their classroom and teaching. Principal is engaging and helpful. Great community!

When people move to your neighborhood because of the school - you know something good is happening. Southmoor Elementary is THAT school. The leadership is innovative, the teachers are amazing, the parent community is supportive and the education is second to none. The staff pours their heart and soul into our kids and it shows in the joy you witness in the classrooms, the confidence of those kids and the success of the alums. No school is perfect, but Southmoor is close!!!
What makes a great school is so much more than grades and test scores, and while Southmoor has those, what makes it great is the community. This school is truly a gem - the administration and teachers are 100% dedicated to ensuring the success of each and every child who enters the front doors. The parent support is incredible and it's reflected by the well-rounded kids who attend. And the community at large has repeatedly supported the school through donations of goods, time and money.

The leadership has committed to listening to the needs of it's community and as a result has made a strong commitment to keeping class sizes low. While there is a lengthy wait-list to attend, the administration is turning kids away in order to maintain that commitment.

Perhaps of equal importance is the commitment to helping create a community of learners that is kind, caring and respectful.
