I liked how I got one on one experience when I needed it. The teachers would make time for me to teach me things that I didn't know. They explained step by step how to do things and it was very helpful.
I love the teachers at this school. They are very understanding of personal issues that may be affecting a student's performance in the classroom, and they never leave anyone behind academically. They push for struggling students to come into tutoring and answer any and all questions during class. They are not only teachers, but friends to confide in if you have an issue you would like to discuss. Overall, the staff here become like a second family with the strong relationships you can develop.
The classes are great and challenging like they should be. The teachers push students to be their best, but the students themselves are not very friendly.
I think my son has gotten a great education at Southmont, my wife and I are alumni, as well as many of our family members
Small town environment. Every teacher knows you by name. Most teachers are willing to go above and beyond to help with extra help when needed by students.
Southmont is one of Indiana's smaller schools in both building size and student population, so it doesn't seem overwhelming nor is it easy to get lost in it. The teachers are helpful and friendly, and they teach their classes in various ways and using various mediums. Southmont also has a good number of vigorous and challenging classes, among which are classes that can count for both college and high school credit, which is pretty helpful. It is also a very diverse and welcoming school with few, if any, cases of bullying or discrimination toward those of other races, religions, or with mental/physical disabilities. Rather, these individuals are treated with equality and respect. Another great thing about Southmont is that you always feel safe and secure. Southmont has a great number of good safety procedures.
Need more arts and music opportunities and resources. More diverse subjects and AP courses. Safe school with some great teachers. Facilities improving. Counseling staff is very helpful.
Southmont is a very well connected school. We have teachers who care, coaches who go above and beyond, and students who make it interesting. I do not feel threatened at anytime while in Southmont, and I believe the teachers would lay down their lives for me. I believe a strong school builds a strong community and that is exactly what Southmont does each and every day.
Being a student at Southmont has been a great experience for me. When I almost moved school districts my freshman year, not only was I upset about leaving all of the many friends I have but also the great school of Southmont. I consider this school the best in our county in academics and sports. If I had the choice to go to Southmont, North Montgomery, or Crawfordsville, I would pick South every time.
Southmont is truly a rural school, but offers as much as the city school. We have an awesome new tech program. Our school is going through a major growth, with expanding classes, halls and adding new programs. Our school seems to focus as much on improving Academics as it does its Athletic areas.
Southmont has been good to me. I wish, like most schools, the drug problems and bullying issues were responded to better. Feel like the bullied are the ones who get into trouble and the bulliers are protected.

It is a very good school with great staff and students. The school has made high school fun for most of the students while also making you try and work hard in classes. The only thing I would liked to see changed is the dress code. Somethings aren't a distraction until pointed out by teachers.
I loved my school. The administration could have been better but other than that I loved it. I learned so much and was ready for college. The teachers care for every single one of their students.
All of the teachers are helpful and are passionate about teaching their students. They offer a wide variety of extracurricular classes and science classes. A great smaller sized school that really helps students grow and excel in school.
Southmont Highschool is a unique highschool. It offers many classes and has many teachers willing to help you achieve your goals. Whether it is a small personal goal or a goal that you have pertaining to your future, Southmont Highschool and it’s staff help you to reach them.
Academically and extra-curriculally Southmont is a pretty good school. I believe they provide with a good amount of options for course to take and activists to participate in. The administration seems to ignore what the students tell them about certain subjects. One problem I have personally have recently noticed is the amount of involvement in drug related activities amping my peers. I have witnessed drug deals happen in class and a few weeks ago one of my friends got a bag of weed shoved in her face before one of our classes. We both reported the students who we have noticed are involved in drug related activities and have heard of several others doing so. Despite several reports of this the administration ignores the problem.
I very much enjoyed my time spent here. The teachers are funny and really interact with their students to give them an awesome learning experience that they can use for the rest of their lives.
I have gone to Southmont for the past four years and I have enjoyed every year. The school puts student's education first, which is, obviously, so important. The teachers care about the students and are passionate about the subjects they teach. Truly they are the heart of Southmont High School and make learning fun.
