From SouthLake Christian Academy

I have the best job in the world. As Head of School, I have the opportunity to watch brilliant teachers shape growing minds, to see talented students learn and serve our community, and to see our school embrace and advance our Christian mission. There are three things that make SouthLake Christian Academy unique in the educational landscape of north Charlotte. First, this a quality school, with standardized test scores and college credentials that are higher than North Carolina and national averages, at a cost that is well below average for private schools in the region. Second, our school is large enough to boast a breadth of educational, athletic, and artistic opportunities, yet small enough for teachers to know your name and your distinctive educational and spiritual needs. Third, we are committed without apology to our Christian mission. In short, we are a family providing superior education at an affordable price in the context of a caring Christian environment.

My family has been at SLCA since my now 10th grader was in Kindergarten! We now have 3 children there in grades 4th, 7th and 10th. They have been wonderful in working with us on a schedule for my level 9 gymnast so that she can continue to train 27 hours/week and still remain in school instead of homeschooling like many gymnasts at her level. They have been exceptional in guidance and helping the kids to navigate the social pressures and difficult topics our teens face today. I am beyond thankful for our school family!

Referred by a dear friend, sending our children to SLCA was the best decision for us and their future. The faculty and teachers genuinely CARE about the students and their success, always willing to offer extra help during study halls and/or after school. I believe their strengths are academics, moral and character development, small school community, can participate in sports if you choose regardless of ability (blessing and a curse). Would like to see stronger sports programs and facilities other than football and boys lacrosse as well as a more diverse student population. It is getting better, but still lacking in diversity. Would also like to see a better cafeteria and eating/hang out environment for the children. The clubs and sports and the cafeteria will not shape our children, so not essential. The faculty and staff and personal learning environment is invaluable.
I went to Southlake from 6th to 12th grade. For the most part, my family was able to build a close relationship with the teachers and administration. While I was there and since I have left, the administration really took in families' opinions on the teachers and structure of the school to help everyone get the best out of the academic and Christian atmosphere. I am eternally grateful for the care each teacher put into my academic, social, athletic, and spiritual success in and outside of the classroom. I am currently a student at UNC Chapel Hill, and have been extremely prepared especially from the writing/composition classes offered at SLCA. The classes are beneficial especially when the work is put in. From what I have heard, each student had an excellent athletic experience at SLCA including myself. Same as the teachers, the coaches all coach from a Christian perspective.
