South View is very diverse and you can meet new people and make new friends easily. There’s something for everyone at South View whether it’s extracurricular activities or just classes in general. Most of the teachers are nice and are willing to help you when you need it. However Some show favoritism and pay attention to kids who are flourishing in their class. Many children learn and experience situations differently and some lack skills that others excel and that’s ok but we can not show such favoritism to other students when another student is trying his/her best. I know for example that I’m not decent in math however I try my very best to improve my skills I may not have excellent grades as others but at least I have a teacher who encourages me to keep moving forward unlike other teachers in different subjects have favorite students. Those students get away with sleeping in class, causing a distraction, or is always picked to volunteer for special occasion

I am currently a junior at South View High, and I participate in the school's International Baccalaureate program and I have been since my freshman year, so my experience at the school is a bit unique. During freshman year, I took honors and IB classes so I was always in classes with the same people. Most of the teachers were very good, and I was able to get through the classes with ease, with the exception of a select few. Sophomore year was very tough due to the upper-level classes I was taking, but overall it was alright with the exception of my Math 3 teacher. Currently, I am a full IB student, and I really do feel like all of the teachers have my best interest and success in mind, and it is a wonderful feeling, especially with the fact that the classes are not easy. Overall, things are okay. The IB is pretty isolated from the rest of the school, but I signed up for it so I can not complain.
South View was great because it allowed me to improve and grow as a student. The things I would like to see change is a revitalization of administration that doesn’t nitpick on the small things and focuses on the bigger issues at hand. There’s too many drug related issues and violence. The IB program shouldn’t continue at the school, I feel for many students that the program isn’t inviting and many students could benefit from just regular in class AP classes which could in turn help many students achieve the more focused patrhway they wished to take and less all around and set in stone program. The non-honors/AP classes that I had experienced had teachers that didn’t really teach. They made us copy notes and gave us worksheets to do in class. Or straight from the textbook copying and putting to paper. It’s not beneficial to students who want to progress to better classes or to the students who are having a hard time focusing or who aren’t interested in school.
