I have been with South Sutter since first grade and am now starting my senior year, they have made being homeschooled so easy for me! They do not require a lot from you for samples which is helpful because you don’t have to stress about finding that paper you wrote a month ago. I also appreciate the funds they allow so I had the ability to do dance for 11 years. I would one hundred percent recommend South Sutter if your looking to homeschool!

I have been enrolled in South Sutter Charter School since sixth grade, and I am set to graduate this school year. I like the parent involvement and the variety of extracurriculars and courses offered, especially for the lower grades. However, because this is a charter school without a traditional building, this school functions as independent study more than anything else. This can come with downsides when you get into high school and you have to prep for college, because the courses readily available won't be challenging enough unless you look hard for sufficient college prep classes. For example, if SSCS does offer AP courses, it was never brought up, and I would have loved the opportunity to take AP courses going into high school, but now that opportunity is gone. Make sure to communicate clearly with your teacher and parents for all you want and need for your college plan, and the freedom of this charter school should be the right fit for you.
South Sutter Charter is an amazing homeschooling program with teachers and Education Specialists that are there to help you achieve your goals. Whether it be getting into an Ivy league school or going to community college, they will guide you towards the right path.
