South San Antonio High School Reviews
Rating 3.69 out of 5 391 reviews
I graduated in the spring of 2023 and I can truly say that although many other people would have different opinions about South San, I believe it was an amazing school. The teachers, equipment, and environment was better than more schools in the area and I truly believe that it shaped me into the student I am today. The best part was definitely the teachers, which everyday came to class attempting to make the classroom a more enjoyable experience for the students. The worst was likely the lack of teachers. Although the teachers that we did have were amazing we didn’t have much of them. A shortage of teachers caused for a surplus of work and fatigue which as a student I could see that our staff needed help. I wouldn’t change much about besides the fact that we have a shortage of teachers.
I loved that South San Antonio High had a variety of people with different communities could come together in one high school. The neighborhood didn't matter, it matter who you were as a person. Also most teachers always had advice to give which was good since it would mean you always had someone else to count on. I also love the freedom speech that was allow. I also loved that you were able to get help in applying to college. Also with help there felt some nepotism since top people or like others who had there college choosen would take the college advisors time. I dislike how the school only said that college was the only since there are many trades and options to do. The welding program was also left at end for receiving their supplies which wasn't helpful we would get the items almost at the end if the year. Also some favoritism on people for example if you were in a sport and your teacher was coach they would have the students in their class the whole day. Interruption
I’ve had a great time at South San, most of the teachers are very nice and understanding. The sports is very fun and interesting, the teaching is good because they make sure you understand the work, and the food is very good and portioned greatly. Some things I would change though is better safety and going back to a block schedule to not make classes and assignments so stressful.
