South River High School Reviews

As far as the actual education at South River goes, it's relatively good. When considering the average public school our school seems to stand out. There is a variety of AP and Honors classes, as well as STEM and PLTW pathways. The teachers are generally passionate about their subjects which tends to make learning actually enjoyable.
Despite the advantages of the education side of things, the students are not quite as good. While the experience of course varies between person to person, the majority of other students I have spoken too care little for their grades, they are disrespectful, and would rather be spending time on social media then socializing in person, not to mention the rampant bullying problems.

South River High School's main motto is to fly high, and sometimes it achieves that by providing great mental heath services, being open to minority groups, and making sure students are ready to take the next great big leap in their life. They have the most prestige of teachers, especially the science department. South River is also ranked #1 for schools in Anne Arundel County.
That being said, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. The boy's bathrooms are constantly locked and filthy, making some students who actually want to use the bathroom and not vape have to resort to either going down to the nurse's office, or the teacher's bathroom. South River students always love praising the "culture" when it's rotten to the core with toxic masculinity, disrespect, impoliteness, and selfishness.
Overall, South River is like a golden trash bag sitting next to a bunch of regular trash bags. It's shiny and bright, but there's still trash rotting inside

I think the teachers are good, and the ap classes are challenging and rewarding. I also felt that the school didn't have much bullying and was safe. On the other hand, the cafeteria food needs to be better and sports are not flexible with students who also do club sports. Since south river high schools sports practices conflict with club, most club sports people can't enjoy high school varsity sports. Without the club people, they don't really have elite athletes in highschool sports making the events seem more boring.
