South Plainfield High school's more redeeming quality is its diverse student body. There is a lot of different type of people in South Plainfield, some in greater population than most but, never the less still diverse. There are a lot of fun clubs to join and most of the teachers are very friendly. There is a lot of after-school help and activities to participate in.
South Plainfield High School gave me an average highschool experience. I had an okay time there but there are many things that should still change. The academics is pretty average and the teachers do want to see students succeed but there are teachers who do not care overall. The diversity level at the school is low due to the fact that it is a predominantly white institution. There is definitely racism and prejudice that exists within the student culture and this needs to change drastically. The school has been involved in a myriad of scandals involving students and teachers that still continue under the radar today. It seems as if sports are the only major concern of the college and just like most schools the arts are disregarded for.
My experience at South Plainfield High School was good. The teachers didn't want to see you fail. My school had so many good after school clubs that anybody could join and our sports teams were very good. I would like to see my school improve on teaching different racial backgrounds they really dont do a very good job with that.
SPHS is a good school with great academics, sports, and school spirit. The teachers are friendly and willing to work with you and help you with anything you need. The music programs hold several concerts every year and always sound great. Overall, my experience with SPHS was a good one.
The teachers are very passionate about what they teach. The school counselors are always there to help.
I would like to see students and teachers held accountable for their actions. There have been countless times where students (and sometimes teachers) have made racist remarks towards other students. When they are reported, they receive no punishment. I have told the head of the guidance department that I do not feel comfortable being in this class with a teacher who had made a racist remark against my friend and had laughed as I had a panic attack. Instead, he tried to make me believe that I was in the wrong and that I was making it up. This teacher was never held accountable.
A lot of different courses offered! Good teachers and helpful counselors. A lot of sports, arts, and clubs.
South Plainfield High School is a good school but there are some pros and cons. Pros being the teachers, depending on who you have, were great in my experience. The teachers I had were always there for their students and were willing to do anything got to make things easier to learn. School spirit is okay, it may not be the best but we try. Some of my personal cons would be some of the rules, I think there are some rules that are a bit unnecessary. Another con would be the school lunch, I must say thank god for the cooking class cause there were some days when I walked into the cafeteria and I looked at the food and thought to myself, "What the heck is this?"
Overall, the school is academically proficient as there are a wide variety of classes to choose from. There are many APs and honors classes, as well as general elective classes that provide a wide range of life skills in business and technology. The clubs and activities are diverse, so any students will find their niche pretty quickly. The sports culture is very tightly knit, and many students come out to support the athletic teams. Overall, South Plainfield High School isn't perfect, but it could be a lot worse.
South Plainfield School is is a welcoming school. It offers variety of different course for all students and opportunities based on their needs and likes. So far I have had an amazing sophomore year. The school offers many difficult course like Advanced Placements, and honors program. The teachers are amazing as well and help the student through its thick and thin. There are many courses like Ap research and seminar that is not offered at other schools. I it prepares you well for colleges and upcoming hardships that ya students have to face. The bullying policy is amazing too. We don’t have any tolerance for bullying and their are cops and guards to secure our safety. If I have the chance I would repeat it all over again,
Recently certified as a Top 100 school in New Jersey. Also recently installed a new STEM/computer lab and changed principals. From my experience, some of the teachers I have had (particularly for AP courses and honors courses) are very thorough and put in evident effort to prepare their students for tests, while others are lacking. There are a variety of extracurricular activities and one can easily start an organization with a faculty member's supervision.
It is somewhat a mess since administration is constantly changed and the new one were making too many unnecessary drastic changes that took probably came from tax payers' money.
I got so out of my high school experience. From the knowledge from my teachers, to the guidance assistance, clubs and sports available to me, I am well prepared for college!
The school had its up and downs but at the end of the day the administration made sure you was on track.
South Plainfield High School is an amazing and welcoming school. It has a variety of courses students can take based off their needs and likes. The staff at the school is very kind and always on top of their responsibilities.
I recently moved to South Plainfield for my freshman year and it’s been a great experience. All my teachers are super nice and want to see their students succeed. I made lots of friends as well, and I’m excited to see how the rest of high school here goes.
I had a fairly average experience at South Plainfield High School. I encountered some very awful teachers that definitely did not belong in any school district, but I also did experience possibly some of the best educators I will ever have that have made me love certain subjects that I used to hate. Another thing I can appreciate about SPHS beyond its revolting bathrooms and cafeteria food is that it is one of the most diverse schools I have seen. In all of my classes there is a fairly good ratio of ethnicities and races. Also, in terms of college readiness, South Plainfield is lacking. Unless someone has the intrinsic drive to do well in school and begin to prepare for college and its level of work, they will not be prepared for college, because the classes themselves do not prepare one for college.
