I'm going to be a Junior at South and have enjoyed it very much! The school has great teachers that making going to class exciting. I find it to be a very advanced public school. All of the activities are fun and exciting. As much as I dread waking up early, going to South encourages me to get up in the morning and learn. I struggle in school because of my learning disability's and South has helped me overcome those struggles. I may not be a top of the class student but I am getting better grades than I could get because of South. Everyone staff member and teacher is great. I strongly recommend going to South if you are looking into a public school for your teen to go to.
This school offers a very well rounded experience in both academics and extracurriculars. There are many opportunities to get involved, and the faculty is always encouraging and concerned with students’ well-being. Overall, this school has provided an above average high school experience!
My experience with South Oldham High School has been outstandingly average. There are a select few staff members who go above and beyond to make students feel welcome and heard and they deserve to be recognized, but these staff members are few and far between. The guidance counselors are exceedingly unhelpful, but they recently hired a mental health consultant who is extremely nice and I would highly recommend. The quality of education is fantastic, it's really just the environment that brings it down. The students are ill mannered and rude to one another (especially to people of authority) probably because of the unwelcoming atmosphere the administrative staff creates. Overall, if you want a high quality of education, South is a good choice. But, if you aim to enjoy your high school experience, you'd be better off to continue looking.
