Strong community with commited teachers. Provides students with a quality education and prepares them to pursue their goals after high school.
The school is pretty good but I think it it can be better and they are working towards that. I am confident that the school will improve and continue to get better in the future.
I really liked south mountain high school. People may say that it’s bad or things like that, maybe because the area that it’s in but it’s actually a really good school with good teachers and really good sports. Most teachers there are passionate about the things they teach. The sports teams are really good to play and to watch. The school also has really good school spirit.
Very great learning opportunities, great teachers and programs. I was lucky enough to be accepted into the nursing program which allows you a head start in the nursing filed, if you pass the exam you'll be a CNA right out of high school which is great! The aerospace prpgram is equally as rewarding, allowing you to graduate as a private pilot opening many doors into the aerospace field. The list of opportunities go on. The work hard to ensure everyone is happy with what they want to study and make programs for everyones liking
The school is pretty good, teachers are always helpful and friendly. The campus is also a good place to be in.
The culture was very mixed. Everyone had something to share about their background. Sports was very much a big thing at South. A very rich sporting heritage.
South Mountain High school is a very diverse high school. It has exposed me to new and unique people. For the most part it's been a safe place for me to learn, not only in class, but in the halls and on the fields. Both teachers and coaches have made me feel like I have someone on my side during this crazy journey we call adolescence. Although our community might not be the safest South Mountain does take precautions to ensure our safety. I have witnessed bullying in the halls which may seem harmless at times, but I feel that with more attention things could be resolved. With the support of the staff I've reached the state that I'm in now and I'd consider it to be a good place. I've grown as a person within these three years with the help of this high school's environment. Being located in an area when crime often occurs and gang violence is present, South Mountain has kept a appropriate appearance within the community.
I don’t like how you have students tell you what teacher not to get and it’s normally the same teacher. But overall I like that they give you a chance to experience all different types of majors
It has great sport programs, these sports make the school united every game day. the staff are also great and helpful. overall great.
Since I’ve been attending South Mountain High School what has stood out most to me is the amount of care that teachers show towards you even outside of school. I like how i can connect with them on other real life issues and they have the right answers for me as some of them have really been through the things that I have. One thing I would like to see change after I’m gone is the school spirit. You should love to rep your school whether your in a sport or not it’s always good to participate and support one another.
South Mountain High School has helped me prepare for the future and has helped me face my obstacles.
One of the best schools I've been to. Teachers are rally kind and helpful along with the rest of the staff
When I begin in this school is was good, I actually enjoyed my teachers and classmates. However, this is such a big school it is hard to focus on every student. Resources are very minimal in the school. There are many students with school spirit, and many programs and activities to get involved in. One of the reasons I actually liked it was because the availability of a special program to get into college my junior year, and many of my teachers were helpful during this process and also in dual enrollment.
My experience at South Mountain High School over these past 4 years were great. I had amazing teachers who offered help or helped me when I needed it. I have had no issue here at all.
i liked the diversity and how we all got along i wish that there could be a marching band and more programs to help students get certificates in the healthcare field
I liked being a part of bringing the step team back. It was an exciting expercience. And it is extremely diverse which is really nice. It's mainly African American and Hispanic, but because I'm both, it was nice to experience being surrounded by people who are like me. There are fights almost everday which can be intresting and entertaining at first. But it becomes really annoying as it continues throughout the year. So far this year, there are staff that have been severly injured because of fights. It's overwhelming being a new student. However, I've heard that as an overall school, it's been better as than how it was previous years before.
This 2019-2020 is my first and last year at being at South Mountain high school I recently transferred from Cesar Chavez high school. I believe that South lacks in the education that is being taught to the students. I do like the fact that South is starting something with academies. The academies are very organized because there are people that are in charge of an academy and the academies are sorted by buildings. The academies that students are placed in are there because of the certain electives they are taking.
