Something I love about my school is how many resources they give you in order to succeed in your classes. The counselors are always there to help and teachers are available as well for the most part. However, something I don’t like is that sometimes the air conditioner stops working without warning and it gets really hot with this Miami weather.
the school had a great music program but it was kinda shabby because people would litter and make the bathrooms gross and there were a lot of fights. but I felt like I belonged there as a member of the magnet program and I quickly made many friends.
South Miami Senior High School has provided me with a memorable and enriching educational journey. From the moment I walked through its doors, I was welcomed into a diverse and vibrant community of students and teachers who have greatly influenced my overall experience. One aspect that stands out about South Miami Senior High is its strong commitment to academic excellence. The school offers a wide range of challenging courses, giving students the opportunity to explore various subjects and develop their intellectual abilities. The dedicated and passionate teachers have been instrumental in fostering my love for learning. Their expertise and willingness to go above and beyond to help students succeed have made a significant impact on my educational growth. Beyond academics, South Miami Senior High offers a plethora of extracurricular activities and clubs that cater to diverse interests. Whether it's participating in the school band, or being a part of the art club.
I like that there is a Cambridge program that gives you the opportunity to earn Bright Futures which could give you a full ride to scholarship, however, the program is limited and does not offer many Cambridge classes. There are AP classes but many get shutdown because there are not enough students in the class to keep it going.
I attend a decent school, not too good yet not too bad. This is actually my first year attending South Miami Senior High School, since before this school I went to Coral Gables Senior High School. So far, I like it, it's been a bit difficult adjusting since I have no friends in this school, but the teachers are nice and polite, they are always checking up on you and making sure you're caught up with the lessons and assignments. The administration staff are very nice also, they provide support and assistance to both students and parents whenever it is needed. The classes and bathrooms are not too neat though, the bathrooms stalls are not too clean always, and there is a lot of gum on the class desks which can be irritating. In conclusion, South Miami Senior High School is a decent school located in FL, Miami not too different from others schools in this area.
Honestly, I was only there for two years and it was a whatever school. Their math department sucks, however, they're pretty good when it comes to AP and Aice classes. Their security guards are nice but work wise who knows. When fights happen they just stand there and kids have to stop the fights. I like the counselor though they can be biased, one in specific, she does not treat kids fairly and honestly it seems like she got her degree online or just got hired for fun because she's only good at offering her snacks and assuming people are all good. The schools food is good and terrible, to be honest i liked the food but if you're unlucky you might get terrible one. their college advising sucks as well. I literally had to advise juniors and seniors myself.
This school it great and deserves a lot more credit then it gets!! Also the information on this school is not very accurate and old.
What I liked about South Miami Senior High School was the electives. What I would like to see change in is the counselors. The teachers need to loosen their attitudes.
It's a good school and have good teacher i only like to change is that the mayorly speak Spanish and that don't help me learn English.
I had a great 4 years, I always felt supported by my teachers, counselors and staff. The school has great magnet programs, and choice programs as well!! My problem was the AC was a lot of times broken in one building, the bathrooms have a lot of toilet seats closed, and it’s not as clean as I’d wish either. The pandemic made it cleaner
My experience during my time in South Miami could have gone a lot better, but that means it can not be improved upon. I hope to see grand changes in this school after I graduate next year.
South Miami was an average school, I honestly feel like better math professors is a must. All other academics were decent but the math department was seriously lacking. Apart from that I feel SMSH was a decent high school, some professors were great and school activities were fun.
What i like about South Miami senior is the sports and resources they have for us to prepare for the next step after high school. The teachers are good but school spirit and environment is not.
There is a lot to be said about my school, and its definitely rough. The teachers there that care are few and far between, but nonetheless, those who do care should be recognized, and have helped shape me into the person I am now. the teachers that i am talking about really listen, and have a piece of their heart for each and everyone of their students, and i appreciate them. The administration is also quite helpful, I never leave the office with an unanswered question, or a stone unturned.
The teachers are very good I believe there weakest area of teaching is math But there best is computers and English. Administration is very poor the school is full of kids doing drugs in the bathroom fights occuring in staircases and there seems they are no consequences for these actions.
The years that i have been there have been great, very focused teachers that will encourage and always believe in a students potential until said student achieves that goal and are persistent doing so.
The things i love about the school was that that they are a family and that they are very supportive over everything that we do.
