My twins in preschool was great. Once we entered K5 it was the "rewards" (candy) as main focus & not teaching any coping with social/emotional regulation. Blaming & shaming in front of others. We stayed as the twins wanted to try another year. Not the same. Original admin we started with left. Looking back at this past year I see why. The school is run by the church that is in a constant financial crisis & the antiquated system that is in place needs a total rehaul. Sad to leave but the kids are so much happier now. Their dad works for anesthesia service in large hospitals in MA & kids were telling my twins that "people who wear masks all day die" (during pandemic when he is in the ER/ICU intubating covid+ patients) this was allowed in a supposed christian school? These kids are bullies in the making with no accountability, & no system in place to deal with it. I was a volunteer for 2 yrs. I saw what goes on inside. Its a school for those who attend church it is affiliated with.
Went there from kindergarten through middle school. Teachers had favorites and allowed/supported bullying others. Had fun school activities, but was just ok academically. Would not recommend.
SMCA has been great for me personally I've loved being at the school. The teachers have been great and really care about each individual student, the administration is in it for you and they let us know that! The only thing I'd change about the school is the curriculum. It should be a little more challenging and include more AP and Honors courses.
This is a small private Christian school that has good education with great teachers. The school has a great spirit and atmosphere.
I would highly recommend this school to any family looking for their children to grow not only mentally and emotionally but spiritually. The new Administrator, Ken, has done an amazing job at leading this school and faithfully leaning on Gods direction for the continued growth of SMCA. This year, has been the second year my son has attended. The teachers are loving, kind and genuinely care about your children. My son loves SMCA and is thriving!!! Thank you!
just a meh. do not recommend. has taken a large step back from previous years. sort of sketchy nowadays.
Good student teacher ratios. Committed and caring teachers. More diverse student body in recent years. Solid academics.
South Merrimack Christian Academy is a great school located in southern New Hampshire. Its small, community-like environment brings forth a new aspect of learning. The faculty and staff are very friendly, personal, and all around likable.
I enjoyed my time at South Merrimack Christian Academy a lot. I made a lot of friends there and will most likely be friends with many of them for a long time. The biggest of the problems the school has are almost all related to its small size. Due to the small size there aren't many sports offered. Also the availability of AP classes, scholarships, and extracurricular activities are limited. The school is part of Merrimack Valley Baptist Church. The school uses the church's facilities and because of that the church deacons have a say in what the school does. Despite that fact, the faculty and administration at South Merrimack Christian Academy do a great job of making school enjoyable while still giving a decent education.
I like the Christian atmosphere, within the school. The kids are nice, and the teachers are very caring. However, the academics are not as challenging as I would like.
This school will prepare you for life, and the staff is extremely kind and helpful. It's a good place to grow in Christ. SMCA is a small school at under 300 students, but that isn't a downside. You get to know a lot of people and it can be a great time.
Overall it was a very good school, lots of teachers coming and going as it’s hard to find teachers that are willing to stay at a small Christian school.
I liked SMCA's genuine desire to teach their students not only academically but also spiritually. The teachers care about their student's lives even outside of school. The sports teams are coached extremely well. As a senior that has been going to SMCA for 7 years, I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at SMCA.
Sports (soccer, volleyball and basketball) teams are awesome, top of the NH Christian Schools. Actually, the school and its facilities are getting bigger.
Senior year, if you finish the required credits you can leave at noon.
Some teachers are great and consistent but some are not. They all want the students to do well though.
They offer a lot for a small school.
