The students were the ones who made High School very bearable. Being able to see my friends everyday made school worth it. However, the school itself was very uncomfortable and there was always something going on out of students control that affected the students. For example, the levy not passing, which took away most of the extracurriculars for students and smaller sports. They also built a new building for south for the year 2019-2020 and the construction delayed students about a month which then resulted in students having less snow days. Meaning, us students were called into school on days where the weather was very bad. Many students on these types of days would come in late because they were cautious driving and others were put in danger while driving on the road to school because the weather was so bad. Yet, we were still required to come in.

My experience with South High has been, well, pretty decent. For my first two years, I really enjoyed it. I was attending high school full-time, and I enjoyed my time with my teachers and peers. However, I began to realize that things were beginning to change during my third year. I was now attending a local community college part-time while taking some courses at South High. I really enjoyed the courses at both institutions. However, this is when the atmosphere began to change at South High. With the stricter policies, the removal of our mascot, and a complete shift in administration, it felt as though my identity as a student at South High was changing for the worse. I felt a lot better at my college. And now with a terrible new building, things have gotten a lot worse. Students and teachers are struggling to adapt, and it is all the fault of the school district that is quite literally taxing the people for their mistakes, with clubs and sports as their hostages.
I met some of my best friends through South High School. I feel like because our school is so big, not everyone is very close. I look at smaller schools and everyone knows everyone and gets along. During my high school experience, many of my peers were standoffish or not very nice. These experiences taught me though. They taught me the right and wrong ways to act toward others.
